Personality? Of this time is Stefan Luchian. 

He is birth to Stefanesti on 1st February 1868 has been a Romania painter named “flower’ s plastic poet”. The son of military officer Dumitru Luchian and Elena Chiriacescu is from childhood ennobled with the vocation for the painting, manifesting rejection and contrariety at mother’s desire to subscribe at military school. In same way his destiny enters in art. 

Artistic studies, Luchian’s artistic way? 

He frequents to Bucharest the School of Art where after something evaluations and a competition obtaining the bronze medal for a portrait and for a study of nature. His master has been Nicolae Grigorescu which followed and encouraged him in personality development. Later he studies two semesters to Munchen at Academy of Art executing the copy after artistic work from Correggio and Rembrandt.  With the comeback in Romania, he organizes the first exposition of art society “Artistic Cercle “after that he continues with the study to Paris at Julian Academy where know the Parisian artistic life through museums and impressionistic art expositions. The painting is influenced by Manet and Degas with mondain predilections from Bucharest and Paris. In Romania recognized him the artistic talent being in same kind the pioneer principal of independent artists Exposition, for that he has the merit of exhibiting at Universal Exposition from Paris where he exalts his artistic talent.

In his painting we find the really miracles of simplicity and refinement with the chromatic, architectural synthesis of forms, but in same time there are dominated by delicate and shining colors. The talent is revised in oil technic, in landscape, in pastel of still life and in flowers where the sensibility enters through master’s eye in the viewer ‘s heart for to give the imagines. 

In paintings’ style he exposes most good technic of pastel in contours’ fluidity and in velvet delicacy of flowers’ petals. The artistic career starts with the flowers’ painting and with the years he concentrates through all creative energy in passion for nature, in love for the life and beauty that around him, which open him the skyline and give him tranquility. 

Luchian’s flowers have a dramatic intensity of sentiment, an interior light seen through grave simplicity of really events lived and presents in artistic life. The shadow with the light comes painted into extreme sensibility, into emotional intensity.  The paintings have a secret balance, the reality landscape impressions are present through special delicatesse, and the expressive scenes are chromatic echoes wide of sensibility. The destiny is negated, takes of disease and poverty. Sick of multiple sclerosis he remains infirm all his life, paints with the brush linked to the hand pulse. He exposes, works without interruptions, the admirers acclaim him, but his conditions continue to be most poor. In memory he has fixated the splendid and brightness colors, that belong Romanian landscape which represent him through artistic talent in entire series of works. 

He dies to Bucharest on the 28 June 1916.

A man marked by tragic destiny, but he lives by paintings into energy creative through passion, delicatesse and in brightness colors.  He leaves flowers after flowers, velvet petals, passion, love for art, landscape, portraits, still life …remember him in panel of colors, in harmonious chromatism and in melancholic waves.
