Let’s go to know Donatello or Donato di Nicolò di Betto Berdi.

The artist into his artistic geniality is birth to Florence in the year 1386, is been sculpture, goldsmith ,Italian draftsman being one of founders by Florentine Renaissance.  

He from of modest family , the father Nicolò Bardi , is a worker of wool, but Donatello is sent and educated into house’s Roberto Martelli. 

For passing in art’s history , he study the art to workshop’s Lunardo di Mazzeo and Piero di Giovanni where starts to work for altar by San Jacopo.

As goldsmith he works with Brunelleschi  to Rome for studying the antic, in his  professional path he enters in recherche of study by pieces of arcades, columns, frames and structure of edifice. 

His style is a renewal of ways of structure, with  tenacity  passed  of models by classic Roman arts until the new expressionism. 

He become the inventor of the style “ real volume of body” based on minim multimetric variations of thicknesses in marble, stone, bronze, wood and terracotta.  

Step by step we starting to know his work. 

The first artistic works are started in sites construction of sculpture decorations into Florence: Duomo, Porta della Madonna and Nicchie di Orsanmichele.

In sculpture of marble David and san Giovanni evangelist he recherche the composure noble of antic statue , researching the pieces of humanity authentic and verity.

The critic is always presents again for Donatello ; of part by Filarete is criticized for the excessive expressivity , discouraging him for the Apostol figures that are as screens , the critic from Filippo Brunelleschi  from the crudely and expressivity  style. 

With all critic the friendly is presents , for him the estimate and the friendly are of part aristocratic “ the great Cosimo by Medici”.

In times collaborating intense with Michelozzo, that more later  to dedicated to architecture , without looking to critic , Donatello continue his artistic carrier.

He is death to Florence in 13th December 1466, is burn in church by San Lorenzo.

For me, as a lover of arts , as a simply observer , as a journalist  remains a father of Renaissance , scrupulous, attend to details, renewing  of arts , refined in style gothic , lover of human soul, he express the sentiments, thinks, sensibility and beautiful ‘sculptures.
